AN ALUMNI INITIATIVE OF
Royal College, Colombo · Group of '81

If you feel pain, you're alive.
If you feel others' pain, you're a human being.

We are a small band of classmates‑turned‑changemakers who turned Saturday‑morning walks into Rs. 61 million of healthcare and education for Sri Lanka. Every step, every rupee - for the causes that would otherwise be forgotten.

01 - Who we are

A small band, a global circle, one shared cause.

The rc81walkers4charity are alumni of the Royal College Group of '81 - friendships forged in fledgling school days, now extending far beyond the corridors of learning and into our adult life and social norms.

We have teamed globally with fellow classmates who share our outlooks and values, driven by a common cause: helping local communities through volunteerism and service. We give back to humanity and help those most in need. We have no boundaries nor borders.

"Any minute amount of time can make a monumental world of difference. A penny given in kindness will fill the jar of hope and cure for the sick and ailing."

We are leaders and followers; benefiters and benefactors; dreamers and poets; doers and procrastinators. All are included, no one is left behind - but all are focused and synchronized to the execution engine of the mission at hand: to get the job done.

02 - Our genesis

From batch get‑togethers to a cause for humanity.

It started with a group of batchmates from Royal College - the Group of '81 - led by an inspirational individual who defied the norms of "batch get‑togethers." Whilst ensuring the spirit of camaraderie was never compromised, the seeds were planted for something more wholesome, more healthy. Thus began the weekly Saturday walks.

Mostly at Independence Square, with the occasional sojourn to Galle Face, Waters Edge, or Weli Park, the Walk became a fixture. Then the pandemic arrived - a wake‑up call that highlighted the needs of the less fortunate in society.

Batchmates from Australia, the USA and beyond rallied to do more for society, using the Walk as a platform. Thus was born rc81walkers4charity.
